A Final Winter Getaway

At most zip line centers, there are age requirements for the main zip lines. There are some centers, however, that have zip lines that are specifically designed for young children. If you have kids who are interested in this thrilling activity but who aren't yet old enough to ride a standard zip line, it's ideal if you can find a center in your area that has options for children. Your kids will get the excitement of riding a zip line, albeit in a scaled-down manner. Zip lines for children will often have these criteria.

Lower To The Ground

A lot of conventional zip lines are positioned many feet in the air. In a wooded area, it's not uncommon to fly close to the tops of the trees as you make your way down the line. This height isn't suitable for younger kids, so some zip line centers have child-friendly setups that are mounted closer to the ground. Your child will get to experience the feeling of riding along the line but have their feet only a short distance from the ground. This experience will get them acquainted with zip lining so that they can tackle higher setups when they get older.

Short Lines

Some adult zip lines are extremely long, allowing you to glide for a prolonged period. When you visit a center that has zip lines designed for children to use, you'll commonly find that the lines are short. For example, the entire zip line experience may last just a handful of seconds. This is an ideal way for kids to get used to the feeling of soaring above the ground, even if they're only a short distance above the ground. The experience can seem far less daunting when the end of the line is easily within sight.

Relatively Flat

The angle of a zip line designed for advanced riders can often be a little steep, which can provide thrills because it allows the rider to accelerate as they travel along the line. Most young kids will want to travel at a slower rate of speed, so you'll see that many zip lines for kids are relatively flat. They'll be angled only enough to allow the rider to reach the end but not angled enough to cause the child to exceed a very slow speed.
